The Master of Glide

The River is a staple for a reason, and the Opto Air version is designed to defy gravity. By trapping tiny air bubbles inside the rim, the weight is distributed to maximize the disc’s natural loft. For many players, hitting a target at 85m / 280ft requires a high-speed driver that might be hard to control; the Opto Air River allows you to reach those same distances with a smooth, controlled fairway driver stroke. It is the ultimate tool for achieving a professional flight path at slower speeds.

Accuracy and Versatility

This disc excels when you need a straight line that doesn't quit. Whether you are throwing a low-ceiling tunnel shot or a high, sweeping anhyzer, the Opto Air River holds its angle longer due to its lightweight construction. Because it is PDGA Approved, it is a legitimate competitive advantage for tournament players navigating long, technical fairways. The micro-bubble technology ensures that despite the lower weight, the disc feels substantial in the hand and retains the legendary durability of our premium Opto line.

FAQ

Opto Air utilizes our premium, highly durable Opto plastic but introduces micro-bubbles into the plastic matrix to significantly reduce the overall weight of the disc. This advanced lightweight design allows players with slower arm speeds to generate more snap and achieve a much faster release. It is the absolute perfect choice for developing players, juniors, or anyone looking to effortlessly push their drives past the 100m / 330ft mark with less physical effort.

Yes. Because Opto Air discs are lighter, they require significantly less energy to reach their full intended flight path. This naturally results in a slightly more understable flight and massive glide compared to their heavier counterparts. While they are exceptional tools for effortless distance in calm conditions or massive tailwind bombs, players should be aware that their lighter weight makes them slightly more susceptible to being pushed off-line by stiff headwinds.

Customers praised this disc golf driver for excellent glide, predictable flight, and suitability for players with lower arm speeds. Many older players (60s-70s) found it ideal for achieving 220-240 ft distances. "Flies just as advertised" with quality plastic. Some noted it requires proper technique to avoid nose-diving with lighter weights.

  • If I have only one disc to play a round it's likely the river, my favorite disc.
  • At 73 years of age I finally have a driver I can use. 220-240 is a long throw for me.
  • Great glide, very predictable disc

Good stuff

Definitely one of my lighter discs but flies pretty true and the wind in North Dakota doesn't effect it much more than my 170ish discs. High quality plastic and reliable mold.

At 73 years of age I finally have a driver I can use. 220-240 is a long throw for me and the River is delivering success. Appreciating the increased fairway percentage as well. Still learning and improving and looking for that first 250 👍🏻

Opto Air River

The Opto air River was my first Opto Air disc now I have almost all of the Opto Air line in my bag, having a lower arm speed due to a foot injury ( I have to wear a full size off loading boot to play) these discs give me some extra distance and are great to build arm speed and learn how to throw better. The plastic is just as good if not better than the normal Opto, Thanks to the Latitude 64 team for making these fantastic mid weight discs and for the videos teaching proper grips and lessons they have helped me to play evn with my disability. Keep up the great Job.

Hello Greg,

Thank you so much for your review.

I'm really happy to hear that you enjoy playing disc golf with the Opto Air discs.

Opto river

I love the Opto River I’m 67 just started playing about five years ago. I don’t have the big arm a lot of younger players have, but this Discs lets me keep up with the younger lads

Thanks for the review! We're glad to hear that you like the Opto Air River.

Have a great day.

Flys straight

The River is my go to disc for controlled distance. The River will hold any angle you start it off on. I’m right handed and use it on an Anhyzer to throw to a basket from left to right. It holds the line great! It’s a must have in my bag!

Fairly new 53 yr old RHFH player. I have used my Opto River was which is awesome. I wanted a lighter version to use hopefully to preserve my arm a little more. Initially I struggled getting this disc not to immediately nose dive to the ground, but once I slowed my arm speed down and used more of a baby-hyper release all is good on the world now! Still doesn’t fly like my Opto River, but still a winner for me.

Fantastic and straight!

Solid beginner disc.
Straight flier goes exactly where you throw it. I've got a few. I like the lighter versions best. I'm fairly new / a beginner. I can throw this about 125 yrds and always where I want it to go.
