The Speed Demon of the Fairway

The Ballista is a staple for players who want to push their distance to the absolute limit. In its Opto Air form, the barrier to entry for a speed 14 driver is significantly lowered. For players aiming for targets between 110m / 360ft and 140m / 460ft, the Opto Air Ballista provides the aerodynamic edge needed to stay aloft. It excels at long, booming drives where you need the disc to fly fast and finish with a strong, clean skip.

Professional Distance for Developing Arms

While the Ballista is built for speed, the Air technology ensures it remains manageable. Whether you are throwing long flex shots or looking for a disc that handles a powerful hyzer-flip, the Opto Air Ballista delivers a professional flight path. Because it is PDGA Approved, tournament players can rely on it as a dedicated distance tool for sanctioned play. The micro-bubble technology ensures that despite the lighter weight, the disc feels solid in the hand and retains the legendary resilience of the Opto line.

FAQ

The Ballista is more stable than the Bolt. While both are lighter in the Opto Air version (150g–160g), the Ballista's lower turn and higher fade make it a more reliable choice when you encounter mild headwinds or need a more predictable finish.

Opto Air utilizes our premium, highly durable Opto plastic but introduces micro-bubbles into the plastic matrix to significantly reduce the overall weight of the disc. This advanced lightweight design allows players with slower arm speeds to generate more snap and achieve a much faster release. It is the absolute perfect choice for developing players, juniors, or anyone looking to effortlessly push their drives past the 100m / 330ft mark with less physical effort.

Yes. Because Opto Air discs are lighter, they require significantly less energy to reach their full intended flight path. This naturally results in a slightly more understable flight and massive glide compared to their heavier counterparts. While they are exceptional tools for effortless distance in calm conditions or massive tailwind bombs, players should be aware that their lighter weight makes them slightly more susceptible to being pushed off-line by stiff headwinds.

Customers praise this disc for exceptional distance and flight characteristics. "Just wants to stay in the air" with predictable fade. Ideal for moderate arm speeds in lighter weights (150s), providing reliable s-curve flights. Some note it's more understable than expected, making it effective for rollers and turnover shots. Wide rim design.

  • Great flight. Just wants to stay in the air.
  • My farthest throwing disc. I love the feel of the plastic and I love the way it flys.
  • Very useful, it has a predictable overstability.

My favorite disc

My favorite disc. Great flight. Just wants to stay in the air. And it can flip-to-flat pretty easily.

I Love This Disc!!!

Big distance - Opto Air plastic I get this disc in the 150’s and it is my farthest throwing disc. I can get a little s-curve out of it with a nice predictable fade.. I don’t have the fastest arm, but these are my go-to. At faster arm speeds it would most likely turn over, but it works perfect for me. It’s got a wide rim, but it doesn’t bother me even though I have relatively small hands. I love the feel of the plastic and I love the way it flys. I just wish it was easier to find them in the 150 weights in the states. Latitude 64 - ship more light weight discs to the U.S. I would recommend this disc to anyone with moderate arm speed that wants a high speed driver with a dependable fade! Great disc!

Low speed arm support

For me (90 m max distance) is very useful, it has a predictable overstability and it flies constantly (at my 'max speed') near to the further limits of my distance throws.

Opto Air Ballista

Flies nice but it is super understable comapred to the regular ballista, like -3 turn and although this was an unexpected surprise I think that it is good for rollers and massive turnover shots
