Description
Pioneer, the soft way. Pioneer is our overstable fairway driver for headwinds, forehands and shots that need a dependable finish. Flight numbers 9 / 3 / 0 / 4: no turn, little glide and a hard fade at the end. The flat top makes it comfortable on sidearm throws. Johannes about the disc: "Pioneer in the very soft and very grippy Frost plastic is a pretty weird disc. Being so soft you will get more wobble on release resulting in a less overstable disc. For me I can get an S-curved flight shape (but always comes back with a sharp fade) when putting decent power on the shot. I also really like that it skips less when I throw shorter approach forehands with it." This edition is molded in Frost with a Sparkle additive. Frost is soft and grippy and keeps its flex in the cold, and the Sparkle flakes inside the plastic give the disc a glimmering metallic shine. As Johannes points out, the softness changes the flight a little: expect a bit more wobble on release and slightly less overstability than Pioneer in a firmer plastic. For maximum overstability, Pioneer in a firmer plastic is the better pick. This one is for players who want the same strong finish with more grip and fewer skips on landing.

Plastic

Frost is a soft, durable premium plastic with exceptional grip. It's great for disc golf in cold conditions. When the temperature drops Frost retain more flexibility than other plastics, meaning better grip, more comfort, and more control. Speaking about control, if you need a disc to stop near the basket Frost will do the trick by grabbing the ground quickly.

FAQ

Frost plastic with a Sparkle additive. Frost is soft and grippy and keeps its flex in the cold, and the Sparkle flakes inside the plastic give the disc a glimmering metallic shine.

Not quite. The soft plastic gives more wobble on release, so it flies a little less overstable than Pioneer in firmer plastics. It still finishes with a strong fade.

Headwind drives and forehand or sidearm shots, where the flat top helps. It also works for shorter approach forehands where you want the disc to stay close after landing.

With 0 turn and 4 fade it resists turning over. In Frost, a powerful throw can show a slight S-curve before the sharp fade brings it back.

Grippy Utility

One of my most thrown discs in my bag is an Elasto Anvil from a Westside box a few years back. When I saw this I had to get one as well. Serves the same purpose but as a 9 speed vs 4 speed. Great grip to lean out from precarious positions and flick your way out of trouble, and then sit and not skip back into trouble!

Not what expected but even better

Not what expected but even better. Wasn’t expecting the gummy plastic but turns out it works great for wet hands!

Great disc, fun stamp!

Gummy and softer than I thought it would be, but feels very nice in the hand. Super overstable but still pushes enough to be usable. Will definitely be using this for my windy condition/hyzer flip workhorse. Love the stamp and the disc looks fantastic in person.
