Beetle - Fun Meets Function

The Beetle is a tribute to the roots of flying discs, reimagined with modern materials. Its oversized diameter and deep, rounded rim give it a feel that is reminiscent of traditional catch discs, but its flight performance is pure Latitude 64°. In the hands of an experienced player, the Beetle becomes a surgical tool for the woods. It can be thrown on a steep hyzer to flip up and glide dead straight, or given a touch of anhyzer to drift slowly and predictably for the entire flight.

Despite its playful nature, the Beetle is fully PDGA approved and a serious asset for any bag. It encourages a smooth, clean release and helps players develop a better "touch" for their short game. Because it flies so slow, it is also one of the safest discs to use for warm-ups or introducing new players to the sport. The Opto plastic provides a reliable grip and the longevity needed for a disc that is bound to be used for both serious competition and backyard fun. Experience the glide.

Features and Benefits

  • PDGA Approved: Fully legal for tournament play, offering a unique utility option for specialized shots.

  • Massive Loft: Stays airborne longer than almost any other disc, making it easy to achieve distance at very low speeds.

  • Beginner Friendly: The understable flight and easy-to-grip rim make it an ideal starting point for new throwers.

  • Straight Flight Path: Once you learn its speed, the Beetle is capable of some of the straightest lines in disc golf.

  • Durable Construction: Built to withstand the rigors of both the disc golf course and casual park play.

  • Flight Numbers: Speed: 1, Glide: 7, Turn: -1, Fade: 0.

Product images are representative examples only and may not show the exact disc you receive. Disc color shades, swirl patterns, transparency, and foil stamp colors can vary significantly between individual discs. Unless otherwise stated, exact color and foil combinations cannot be guaranteed.

FAQ

Opto is our premium, translucent plastic blend engineered to withstand the harshest course conditions. It is incredibly resistant to tree hits, rock scrapes, and heavy impacts, ensuring that your disc retains its original flight characteristics for a very long time. It is the absolute best choice for players who want their go-to discs to maintain their reliable, predictable flight round after round.

Opto provides a slightly stiffer feel and a smooth, premium grip that inspires championship confidence. Due to its dense and resilient composition, discs molded in Opto plastic typically start out slightly more overstable out of the box compared to our baseline blends, providing exceptional torque resistance for powerful throws.

Customers praised this disc golf disc as an excellent teaching tool and stable mid-range option. "Flies true and straight" with minimal effort, ideal for 100-130 foot approaches. Beginners and experienced players appreciate its stability and consistency. Note: slightly larger diameter and deeper rim require grip adjustment.

  • Great little addition for 100-130 foot approaches. Flies true and straight for me.
  • Excellent teaching disc. Helping her work on fundamentals and quickly see results.
  • Flies very straight for a long distance with little effort.

This is a great little addition for 100-130 foot

This is a great little addition for 100-130 foot approach’s in my game. Flies true and straight for me. If anything it will give me a little right turn. Good disc. Fastest discs I throw are 7 (I’m 73) so this 4 speed disc is great but may not suit everyone.

Latitude 64 has a great selection for all levels.

BioGold Beetle is Great

The new BioGold Beetle is a great run of the Beetle. They have more stability than the previous Opto Beetles. Myself and my kids love these discs to play catch and to use them for 75' Upshots that just stop at the basket.

Excellent teaching disc

My girlfriend has only played disc golf for a month or so, and she’s been struggling with how to throw without the disc sailing off to the left. The BEETLE’s stability has been helping her to work on the fundamentals of her game and quickly see the results with each throw.

Beetle first Impressions

I bought this for my wife to practice with as she is just learning to trow and thought the lower speed may boost her confidence. Of course I had to try it out before giving it to her , I couldnt belive how it flew as a short to midrange putter its great although its diameter is slightly larger and the rim is deeper once you adjust your grip this Beetle does fly very straight for a long distance with little effort. And yes Ive ordered another for myself.

Kul catch disc

Kul disc att ha med till stranden eller bara spela catch med. Glider fint. Funkat nån gång på bana när det är lågt till tak. Men passar bättre som catch disc. Kräver rätt mycket spinn för att gå rakt.

Infinitely workable 1-speed approach disc

This disc is probably my most thrown in the bag. It's perfect for sub-100ft upshots/runs. It's very easy to manipulate the angles to get hyzer, straight and anhyzer lines. The beauty is that it does all those lines at very low speeds. It never goes too far past the basket. Buy one now...

That said, if you are going for a full power shot, you are doing it wrong. The Beetle won't put up with any of that nonsense.

Nothing wrong with the transaction, just holy cow this thing is amazingly understable... short to mid PUTTS only. It can approach over 150, but it is rough with a good arm

Let’s play frisbee!

Makes a good disc for a game of catch.
Unfortunately I can’t seem to translate my “frisbee”
Throwing into a good disc golf throw in the course.

Great utility catch disc

Love it for warm up fun

Like many already said, it feels bad to throw. Also not any good with cold weather. No idea where i would use it...

Thanks for the review! We are sorry you did not enjoy the Opto-Ice Beetle.

This thing is wild

I am hitting metal with 100' spin putts. I haven't stuck one yet but it is fun.

Not my kind of disc

Feels weird in the hand because of the deep rim. Dont think it will make it to the bag.

Thanks for the feedback. We're sorry to hear that you didn't like the Opto-Ice Beetle.

Have a great day!

Interesting flight

For me this disc flys about 180 feet then turns hard right from right hand back hand, and the same forehand just not as far, I’ve got two hole I play with a hard right turn it’s worked well so far

Trevlig disk

En trevlig disc. Lite svår kastad innan man får känsla för den.
Nu när jag kastat lite med den, så är den ett måste i bagen.

Very interesting

Very floppy and flippy. To actually putt with this, you have to be very touchy. Otherwise, it has been an interesting toss n' catch disc with my buddies as a warm up before playing a round.

Excellent for the kids

I use it for warm up, and throwing with the kids. Excellent disc for frisbee introduction since it is a bit lighter and softer compared to an ultimate disc👍🏻

Fun to throw around, but it's not in the bag.

S
Sven P. (Rakvere, EE)

Fun to throw has a nice glide and is easy to use.
Will definitely have a place in my beach activities bag.
Probably not for the disc round.

A real straight shooter

Tough probably more of a squirt gun than a revolver, this thing goes where you want it, without any twists or turns. What it lacks in total distance it makes up for in ease of use (you hardly need to burn through any calories to get this thing to fly - perfect when you have a lot of walking ahead of you!).
Give it a try, and if it isn't for you, it'll be perfect for when you bring someone along, who doesn't understand that throwing plastic into trees is actually really cool, and fun!

Beetle

It’s not a disc I’m gonna use. It’s super light and thin. Feels funny in my hand. If it’s not a windy day I might use it for an upshot but I will most likely not bag it.
