Max Wild: An Experiment in Distance

If you know us, you know we’re always chasing the next improvement. Max is the latest step: a new plastic and mold technology with one aim, more distance. The speed 14 driver Wild is its first expression. We think it can carry farther than conventional molding allows, and we want to find out together.

Thinner lids, longer flights

Molding a thinner lid is harder than it sounds; the tooling gets more demanding with every tenth of a millimeter. The reward: more weight shifts outward, giving a stronger gyroscopic effect. Higher spin off the tee, better spin retention through the flight. Premier technology has already shown through extensive testing that this holds up beyond theory. Max is our craft applied to the same idea, molded in our factory in Skellefteå.

Unique plastic qualities

The Max plastic will only be utilized for discs designed with thinner lids. This plastic has a precise set of qualities. It is a durable, dense and stiff type of premium plastic. It is slightly stiffer than Opto plastic as we wanted to make the grip feel just right in the hand.

The new mold

The Wild is a brand new mold, designed for the thinner lid from the first sketch. The combination of a really wide rim for speed and maximizing the amount of glide is our recipe for maximum distance, but the improved weight distribution is what pushes the limit. In our testing the flight comes out straighter and more penetrating, with glide that holds on right where other distance drivers fade and fall short.

Unlocked by amateurs and pros alike

You need enough power and technique to get the Wild up to speed, so this is not a beginner disc, but its full value is not reserved for pros. In our testing, throwers reaching 90 meters (300 feet) started to unlock the Wild’s distance potential.
